With a sense of pride we present you the first edition of the Contius-Bach Festival, which is organized around the new baroque organ in Saint Michael's Church.
This instrument is a faithful reconstruction of the instrument that Heinrich-Andreas Contius built 1774-1778 in Liepaja (Latvia).
H.A. Contius was the favorite builder of J.S. Bach, and therefore we can rightly consider this organ an ideal instrument to perform the music of the master.
We hope that you will enjoy the program of this first Contius-Bach Festival to the fullest.
The first edition of the Contius-Bach Festival will naturally pay special attention to this new organ.
The artistic council of the Contius Foundation selects a limited number of candidates from applications from all over Europe.
